Google is set to introduce the Pixel 9a, the next budget-friendly addition to its smartphone lineup. While an official announcement is pending, leaks indicate a launch as soon as March, with sales anticipated to begin shortly after.
Reports suggest Google will unveil the Pixel 9a on March 19, with retail availability expected from March 26 in multiple regions. The device is likely to maintain the pricing structure of its predecessor, the Pixel 8a.
In the United States, the 128GB model is expected to launch at $499 (approximately Rs 50,200), while the 256GB variant could be priced at $599 (approximately Rs 55,700). Pricing for the Indian market may align with the Pixel 8a’s launch rates—Rs 52,999 for the 128GB model and Rs 59,999 for the 256GB variant. However, reports suggest the 256GB model could see an increase, potentially reaching Rs 64,000. In Dubai, the expected pricing is AED 1,829 for the 128GB variant and AED 2,199 for the 256GB option, mirroring U.S. prices.
Leaked images indicate a significant design shift. Unlike previous A-series models that featured a horizontal camera bar, the Pixel 9a appears to incorporate an integrated camera module on the back. The rear panel is expected to feature a matte finish with a centrally placed Google logo. The power and volume controls remain positioned on the right side.
The smartphone is rumored to include a 6.3-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support, and a peak brightness of 2,700 nits.
The Pixel 9a is expected to run on Google’s Tensor G4 chipset, paired with 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM. Storage options include 128GB and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The device will launch with Android 15 and is projected to receive seven years of software and security updates.
Google’s latest A-series phone is anticipated to feature a dual-camera system with a 48MP primary sensor and a 13MP ultra-wide lens. The front-facing camera is rumored to be a 13MP sensor, designed for selfies and video calls.
